The purposes of the Gallatin County Bar Association are:
- To improve the administration of and access to justice in Gallatin County and the State of Montana.
- To uphold and improve professional and educational standards among members of the Bar.
- To enhance relations between the public and members of the Bar.
- To promote cordial relations among members of the Bar .
In order to fulfill its mission the Gallatin County Bar Association sponsors and conducts the following activities:
CLE Luncheons where speakers from throughout the community and state speak on a variety of subjects that effect the legal community. For qualifying luncheons, those attending receive CLE credit from the State Bar of Montana.
Rural Declamation Contest. All youth in 7th or 8th grade attending county rural schools may compete in oral or written presentation contest based on a historical person or event. The contestants research the event or person and may present a 5 to 7 minute speech. The contest is sponsored in conjunction with the Gallatin County Superintendent of Schools.
Student Scholarships. Gallatin County Bar Association Law School Scholarship. In conjunction with the School of Law, University of Montana the scholarship was established in 1995 and provides an annual award to a UM law student who is from Gallatin County. The scholarships range from $500-600.
Charitable Organizations. The Bar Association lends its support to local charitable organizations such as coordinating volunteers for Habitat for Humanity.
Social Events including the annual Christmas gathering, Ski Days, Golf Tournaments, Barbeques and much more.

Regular Board Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at Jackson Law Offices PC, 225 East Mendenhall, Bozeman, 12:00 noon, unless otherwise noted. Monthly Bar Luncheons and CLEs are held the third Thursday of the month, September through May, from noon to 1:00 pm, at Valley View Golf Club, 302 East Kagy Boulevard in Bozeman, unless other noted.
